"I switched to Vitacost Astaxanthin because it was cheaper than the comparable Nutrex Bio-Astin, which I had previously ordered. Maybe the cost savings is in the way the product is packaged. Even though the product description says softgel, the oily liquid comes in a capsule that has the two halves like what you get with powders, not the fully encapsulated, egg-shaped softgel. The 2 part capsule is thin, easily crushed and leaks. So not only am I not receiving a full dose, but now all the capsules are coated with oily residue. Since I fill my pill sorter with my next week's worth of vitamins, everything in each compartment that touches the gooey capsule is affected, and all my vitamins are stuck together. Too expensive to just throw away, I'll have to keep them separate from everything else, more hassle for my daily regimen. I'll not purchase the Vitacost Astaxanthin again. Nutrex is a better value due to the way the product is packaged."
"I have been using Astaxanthin liquid capsules for a while now and they seem to make a difference in my digestive system, if I see more results I will write a new review. I would recommend this product."
"Rather than single out one product, I'll just say what I think of all the products I've bought over the years - quanity, price, customer service, quality, speedy delivery - GREAT. Never had a problem. It's Vitacost - why am I not surprised. See you soon. Thanks, T. Smith"
"I re ordered and was surprised to find that its not Hawaiian Astaxanthin anymore (Bioastin ), and also they change the packaging to liquid in a cap ? Wish they would give more info in the description, and what is their new source of Astaxanthin."
"I was taking the Vitacost brand astaxanthin supplement happily for several months and didn't notice when I re-ordered that it was a new formula (that's why there are so few reviews. It looks just like the old package, but it is a new product) The ingredients are changed slightly and it no longer includes brand-name BioAstin. I assumed it would still be fine; I don't really know what the difference is, but the new formula makes me sick. I take one capsule after breakfast and feel queasy for several hours. I have taken it just enough times to eliminate all other possible causes. I'm so disappointed and it's been over 30 days so I can't return it. I bought another brand that listed the brand name BioAstin, and I am taking it now without any trouble. BTW, I have no allergies, shellfish or otherwise."
