Cooking Time 13 Minutes. Enriched Macaroni Product. Product of Italy. Rigatoni are big ridged tubes and belong to the straight cut dried pasta family with a 16 mm diameter an average length of 45 mm and a thickness ranging between 111 and 118 mm. Their provenance is uncertain but could easily be a speciality of the Campania region. . It's a rather versatile format and is suitable with tomato or vegetable sauces but the rigatoni are at their best with chunky meat sauces and ragus: stew sauces meat and mushrooms veal and pork sausages and giblets ragus. All these thick sauces however should be moistened enough to allow the sauce to cling to the pasta's ridges and hole.

"I've always used whatever Rigatone brand was in the stores. So, I was somewhat taken back by the size of these. They are much thicker than the store brands, which to me makes the taste more pasty. They are alright, but I don't think I'll buy this brand again."

De Cecco Rigatoni

"I ordered 6 boxes for my husband's aunt. She has used these Rigatoni for years and couldn't find them after going to several stores. I knew right where to look when my husband said she couldn't find them. This pasta holds up when you cook it. It doesn't get mushy like the other pasta does. She called everyone to say that UPS dropped off Rigatoni. I will be talked about for years! Hahaha"
