Great filter but unreliable., October 7, 2009
By LakePowellKayaker from Calif hiker and kayaker

"I took this filter to Lake Powell twice. It worked great, its easy to pump, and made good water. But near the end of the three week trip the housing cracked on the seam of the pump. I had to tape it up to keep using it. They sent me a new one. I went back to Powell the next year and the new one did the exact same thing. I am VERY gentle with my equipment. Also the screen inside the filter failed and the charcoal would come out in water. They quickly sent me another housing and a filter. I love the thing but I sure dont trust it anymore. I hear that other brands break just as much. I would research the reliability of other brands before I baught another one of these."

By EAGLE1911

"This thing is the best! Used it to filter several gallons of water and not one of us got sick or anything. And, it tastes WAY better than the purified water from my faucet at home! Easy to use and pumps very fast. You won't be disappointed!"

"There have been great advances in filters in the last 10 years. This filter is cheap and works great. It effortlessly produces sanitary water without that nasty iodine taste."
