Olympian Labs Pea Protein Natural Vanilla -- 2 lbs 3.2 oz

Researched Ingredients • Naturopathic Division. Pea Protein is a natural, vegetable-based protein powder derived from yellow peas (Pisum sativum). Yellow peas are more commonly known as “split peas” and are used extensively in food preparation such as in soups & purees. Most commercially available protein powders are derived from soy, rice, eggs, or dairy, which are often problematic for those with allergic dietary concerns. We’ve chosen Pea Protein because it is a plant-based, hypoallergenic protein that yields a high biological value (65.4%). The BV is an accurate indicator of the biological activity of protein. It measures the actual amount of protein deposited per gram of protein absorbed. High BV proteins are a better choice for increased nitrogen retention, enhanced immunity and IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor stimulation. They are superior for reducing lean tissue loss from various wasting states than proteins with a low BV score. Through a clever extraction and purification process, our Pea Protein is concentrated from the normal level of 6% in fresh peas to 90% protein content. This unique process produces a protein powder that is highly soluble and easy to digest. Pea Protein is ideal for vegans, offers an excellent nutritional profile, is free of gluten, lactose, cholesterol and other anti-nutritional factors. Benefits of Pea Protein. •  Non-GMO. •  Hypoallergenic. •  100% Gluten Free. •  Perfect for Vegans. •  100% Cholesterol Free. •  100% Plant-Based Protein. •  Highly Soluble & Easy to Digest. •  Source of Beneficial Amino Acids. •  Environmentally Friendly Source of Protein. •  Highly Suitable for Sustainable Agriculture

Best Animal Protein Replacement, September 24, 2009
By MarkostheGnostic from Miami, FL

"For years I tried a variety of high protein products, originally for muscle gain, and later for a quick nutritious breakfast. I cannot tolerate whey, so a casein and egg protein product became my staple. Over time I found that these proteins contributed to excessive mucous, even after I had eliminated cow's milk from my diet. Olympian Labs Pea Protein has come to the rescue! My new and superior breakfast shake of almond milk, banana, strawberries and a handful of ice cubes is my favorite daily recipe, and my morning congestion due to allergens has practically been eliminated. Oh yeah, it's tastes good too!"

Best Vegan Protein Around, September 5, 2009
By kid0 from Orting, WA

"Finding a good non-dairy protein that mixes well and tastes great is almost impossible. Pea protein is high in protein, easy to digest, and very soluble. This stuff is not too sweet, and the vanilla taste is mild. Mixes great with some fruit and veggies for an excellent smoothie. I suggest adding in some peanut butter, or freshly ground flax seeds to increase your fiber and omega-3 intake."

So far so good, June 27, 2009
By ThomasM from CA

"I would like to use this powder for a month or so before writing a review....but anyway I think it's great so far. This powder dissolves better than any veg powder I've used. Actually much much better. And it doesn't taste bad. It tastes how you would expect dry pea powder to taste and mixed with soy milk it's tastes good. My biggest concern with veg powders is how well they digest and so far this one seems to digest easily. But I'll need to drink it for several weeks before I really know how well it works with my system."

great protein, February 20, 2009
By strengthwithin from Michigan

"Its hard to find good vegetable source protein powder. I've tried many of them. This is a pretty good one. The only downfall is that it has a slight pea taste. I counter that by mixing it with some cocoa powder and stevia. It mixes very smoothly. 25 grams of protein. I use it everyday."

Very Good, January 26, 2009
By Health4Days from Northern California

"I use this almost daily in a fruit and protein shake I make in the blender almost every day...Taste is not bad, for the amount of protien grams you get\...don't try to mik this with just liquid...pretty stout. Try banana, orange , berries, some cold oatmeal and a scoop of this with some ice...and you have an awesome meal on the go...Happy Eating!"

What a waste..., January 10, 2009
By Lili from Florida

"So, here is my 2 cents...
I am vegan, I was looking for the best plant base protein, and someone told me this one is the best...
I guess I will never know, because the taste is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING... I mean, really... I try to drink it for the past 4 days in the hopes that I will get use to, but, it makes me gag, just to think of it. I use almond milk with it, so I bought the vanilla flavor one to see if it would hide the pea protein taste and nothing... I try to add a little bit of cinnamon powder, and nothing, I try to add a little bit of raw cocoa and nothing... I really wish I could drink it... Honestly, this stuff makes some wierd vegan shakes out there taste like heaven...
What a shame...

Good Protein Powder!, June 26, 2008
By VegShan from Burbank, CA

"This stuff is a great buy. I mix it with brown rice protein for a good balance. This stuff mixes up a little more smoothly than the rice protein. In the smoothie, you can't even taste it, though I did try to mix it up by itself with a little almond milk and I wouldn't recommend that. It definitely has a distinctly different flavor by itself.
It provides a lot of great protein for a good sized scoop..you don't have to use a ton.
I highly recommend this powder.
