Source Naturals Taurine -- 500 mg - 120 Tablets

Calming neurotransmitter. Taurine is a crystalline, free-form amino acid. It is a soothing, inhibitory neurotransmitter and plays a major role in stabilizing the heartbeat and electrical activity of the nerves. Taurine is also necessary for the proper functioning of the "sodium/potassium ATP-ase pump," which regulates the ion balance between the cells and the extracellular fluid that surrounds them. This critically important "pump" actually uses 7% to 40% of the ATP energy our bodies produce.

Helps to calm you!, May 15, 2008
By grandmajennie from Aurora, CO

"Taurine helps calm me with no side effects. I used to have uncontrolable outbursts of anger. I started taking Taurine and Lithinase 3 times a day, about a year ago. I have not had an outburst since. I have gotten angry, but have been able to control it."

Better than other brands we've tried, March 22, 2008
By Kelli from Georgia

"My son has autism and has a tendency to become hyperactive. This taurine seems to have a more calming effect than other brands we've tried. I've wondered if it is because it is a solid tablet that may break down/absorb more slowly than capsules with powder in them. My son also has a gluten intolerance, but this supplement does not bother him."

WARNING: Contains wheat gluten, January 15, 2008
By mugwump from San Antonio, TX

"I selected this product because it comes in tablet form, and I wanted to avoid gelatin capsules. After receiving it, I read on the label that the product contains wheat/gluten. This information is provided in the Vitacost product description -- but not in bold print as it is on the label -- and I didn't notice it. Because of gluten intolerance, I cannot use this product."
