NSI Tart Cherry Extract -- 465 mg - 120 Capsules

NSI Tart Cherry Extract -- 465 mg - 120 Capsules

May benefit joint health! Provides antioxidant protection against free radicals. How Does NSI® Tart Cherry Extract work? Tart cherries, grown throughout the U.S., with Michigan producing up to 75% of the nation's supply, are being increasingly recognized for benefits such as promoting joint health and providing antioxidant protection from free radicals. Tart cherries contain compounds called anthocyanins, which are natural pigments that provide fruits and vegetables with their attractive, bright colors. Anthocyanins are flavonoids known for their antioxidant activity. They work to scavenge and destroy altered oxygen molecules in the body called free radicals. Free radicals are associated with aging and the development of health complications. Anthocyanins have also been found to have strong anti-inflammatory properties. One study, published in the Journal of Natural Products, showed that anthocyanins in tart cherries inhibited two enzymes, COX-1 and COX-2, that play a role in the body's production of prostaglandins, which are natural chemicals involved in the inflammatory process. Another study, conducted by researchers at Johns Hopkins and Michigan State University, showed that anthocyanins were able to reduce pain and swelling related to inflammation in rats¹. Tart cherries are also a rich source of melatonin. Besides helping regulate the body's sleep cycle, melatonin is an antioxidant that's able to break through the brain barrier and provide direct antioxidant protection to the delicate structures within brain cells. Melatonin is believed to have strong neuroprotective properties, promoting brain health throughout the aging process. NSI® Tart Cherry Extract contains 465 mg of tart cherry extract, standardized to 5% flavonoids per one-capsule serving. Taking one capsule is about the equivalent of consuming one cup of pure cherry juice or a quarter-pound of fresh tart cherries. NSI® Tart Cherry Extract is better because it:. Allows you to experience the benefits of tart cherries without eating excessive amounts of the fruit or juice. Is standardized, so you receive the same potent dose of flavonoids in each capsule. ¹ Tall JM, Seeram NP, Zhao C, Nair MG, Meyer RA, Raja SN.Tart cherry anthocyanins suppress inflammation-induced pain behavior in rat. Behav Brain Res. 2004 Aug 12;153(1):181-8.  .  . Did You Know? All NSI supplements are packaged in HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) bottles. These bottles keep moisture vapor out, protecting the freshness and integrity of their contents, and are 400% more effective compared other brands currently using PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) bottles. HDPE bottles do not break as glass can and are also recyclable so we urge you to please recycle them.

Works great for me, September 28, 2009
By Jumbo

"I had swelling and pain in my left hand, fingers and wrist on and off for about 8 months. Some days I wouldn't be able to close my hand and my fingers would be swollen to almost twice their usual size which ,as a guitar and bass teacher, was a total nightmare(I play right handed so the swollen hand was on the fretboard). I started using this at the end of May and it has kept the swelling away completely for about 95% of the time and I have not had a day in months where I could not close my hand after some stretching. I am on my 2nd bottle (I've been giving some to people to try) and have recommended this product to many people. If you have inflammation of any kind, you should give Tart Cherry Extract a try."

"I have to take more than recommended for relief of gout pain in the big toe, 2 caps twice to three times daily; but it works and doesn't appear to have any interaction with other supplements."

Not the good stuff, April 7, 2009
By Hermionefan from Indiana

"NSI is usually a very good product. In this case, I did not get the anti-inflammatory results that I have enjoyed with Tart Cherry by Fruit Advantage. I am returning this product. Two days back on Fruit Advantage and my knees and arches are feeling fine!"

Great for chronic pain issue, January 17, 2009
By TinkerBug from Bay Area, CA

"I suffer from a chronic condition which causes extreme pain in my back and legs. I started taking this product when I found some research that suggested that eating 20 tart cherries a day would help with inflammation and pain. Since it is hard to find cherries year round I looked through this website when I went to place my next order and discovered this product.
All I can say is, "WOW!!" While my pain is not gone, I can definitely say that this product helped a great deal.
I was so happy with the results that I had my husband start taking it, too. He normally just takes whatever I give him and does not say much, but he really started complaining when I ran out of these and he had been off of them for a week. I have basically been told to make sure we do not run out of them again.

Effective natural pain killer, January 12, 2009
By FLnative from FL Suncoast

"This product works best for me in a combination with Bromelain, Valerian, and Hyland's Back Ache. Both my husband and I sustained broken backs and we were looking for the most effective natural pain killers/anti-inflammatories. Used in combination with the other products mentioned, the pain subsides enough to allow me to sleep, with no "hangover" feeling in the morning."

Great for My Back & Helps me Sleep, December 26, 2008
By Blonde61372 from New York

"I've had back and shoulder problems for the past 4 years. I've been down the 'muscle relaxer' road as well as the physical therapy road. Now don't get me wrong...I still occasionally have issues, but since I've been taking this for about 3 months now, my sleep has improved and my days of back/shoulder pain has drastically been reduced. I take it about an hour before bed. I love it."

Great for Pain!, September 18, 2008
By scooter9702 from Jackson, TN

"I purchased the Tart Cherry for my husband. He has chronic back pain and I thought it might help ease the inflammation in his back. He was very skeptical but agreed to take it. He was amazed when his back pain completely went away after taking the Tart Cherry for just a few days. When he stopped taking the supplement, the pain came back, so now he takes his Tart Cherry religiously. It has greatly reduced the amount of OTC pain medication that he has to take. I take it too for general inflammation and I've notice that I don't have nearly the number of little "aches and pains" that I used to have. It might not work for everyone but it certainly has worked wonders for us. I highly recommend it."

"I developed joint problems in my knees well over a year ago - they hurt so bad I moved like I was 80+ years old. Even going down steps hurt. I tried all the man-made, commercial products for the joints, anything with glucosamine in it - even the one Regis Philbin promotes - thinking that surely if it helps someone older, it's got to do wonders for someone younger like me . . . but nothing! I was extremely skeptical when I heard about the natural ability of cherries, as I tend to have more faith in modern medicine, but I had nothing to lose! Boy, am I glad I tried it! It has worked wonders for my knees - the joint pain is all but gone and I've gotten others hooked on it as well. It is really a miracle worker!!"

"If Tart Cherries is something that appeals to you, I think this is a good value. I'm not sure that a single isolated nutrient can be that beneficial unless it is part of a total health program."

Tart Cherry, August 23, 2007
By rdy4life

"I have taken this product for 3 weeks religiously and I am very impressed. I really feel much better, my joint inflamation has decreased substantially, my hands no longer hurt and severely as they used to. I have noticed that turning a door knob or turning the key in the ignition no longer requires assistance or that I make such a concerted effort. I will continue to take this product forever!"
