"My vet recommended this after both of my Maltese dogs developed bladder stones. He said it was to help keep their urine acidic so they did not reform these stones. "After studying acidity vs. alkalinity within the body, I discovered how effective potassium (especially in the citrate form) is in maintaining proper body ph. Although my diet (coffee, alcohol, ect.) requires quite a few capsules per day, (limited to 99 mg per serving by law) I'm glad it's sold in a 300 count size. I consider it a must as part of my daily supplement regimen in promoting a long and healthy life. Be sure to test saliva or urine in order to determine dosage. (I found that urine testing is most accurate) I would like to see Vitacost stock the test "stix" instead of just the inferior strips."
