Inositol Hexaphosphate (IP-6) is a naturally-occurring nutrient found in certain dietary fibers including grain (rice, wheat, oat, corn), legumes, nuts and seeds. Also known as phytic acid, IP-6 is a rich source of phytate compounds that inhibit oxidative reactions initiated by iron (one of the major contributors to the spread of free radicals in the body). IP-6 may be responsible for the benefits of high-fiber diets, including immune health, cardiovascular and blood sugar support. However, IP-6 rarely occurs in soluble fiber but is instead attached to the bran (the hard, insoluble fiber), making it difficult for the body to digest hence obtaining IP-6 in supplement form is recommended.
