Rich source of essential fatty acids! How Does NSI® Organic High Lignan Flax Oil Work? Flax oil is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are 'essential fatty acids' (EFA's)-meaning they're essential for human growth and development, but not naturally produced by the body. EFA's are important for the production of prostaglandins, which are hormone-like transmitters that help enhance inflammatory response, hormones, as well as the cardiovascular system. Flax oil is taken from the seeds of the flax plant. It contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is the precursor fatty acid for the omega-3 series. In order for the body to use ALA, it must be converted into EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), two nutrients that are constituents in many cells. NSI High Lignan Flax Oil is one-hundred percent organic and provides 20 percent lignans per each tablespoon serving. Lignans are a type of fiber, as well as a type of phytoestrogen, which are hormone-like molecules from plants that may have antioxidant properties and contribute to healthy bone growth and cardiovascular function. While NSI® High Lignan Flax oil is delicious drizzled on pasta, vegetables, potatoes, popcorn, rice and other grains, it's not recommended for high-temperature cooking. "I tried this product for 3 weeks, and it seems to be a good quality product, but I couldn't tell a difference while taking it. It provides ALA which your body then converts to EPA and DHA rather inefficiently, so I decided to start buying fish oil instead."

"I bought this product because I wanted to get more Omega 3 in my diet and didnt want to take another vitamin/pill during the day. This NSI product works fine. Good quality...I can even see small pieces of milled flax seed in the product (when shaken properly). The flavor is less than can be desired. Tolerable but has a little "bite" to it."

"I have used several of the expensive brands of flax oil and decided to take a chance with NSI's brand because the pricing is so reasonable. Unfortunately it's further proof that "you get what you pay for". And what I paid for, alas, is not good! It is VERY bitter tasting, almost to the point of tasting rancid - I thought that perhaps the bottle was past it's expiration, but it's still supposedly fresh for another 8 months. I hate to waste, so I will probably use it but I certainly wont buy it again."

"While Looking for an inexpensive alternative to the oil supplements for our Labrador I came across NSI Organic High Lignan Flax Oil. Within 3 weeks our itchy dull coated lab has a soft shinny coat and we no longer have to endure the constant scratching due to dandruff. One squirt in the dog dish once a day and the itchies are gone. Our Vet even commented on the soft silky coat on Joy.
Since the oil is refrigerated I have begun using it in baking and in salad dressing. Much to my surprise it adds a nice nutty flavor to my recipes. Unlike olive
oil it does not congeal upon refrigeration.

This has been an unexpected, inexpensive find for the entire household."

"The NSI Organic Flax seed oil has a nice flavor and provides significant EFA supplementation. If you are on the "Fat Flush" Diet- this is the Flax oil to buy as it is the best price hands down. You should try to use it up as if it sits in the refridgerator for a few weeks it can coagulate on the bottom of the container. I stir it up from the bottom with a Kabob skewer and then shake it- that seems to make it last longer."

"Excellent quality. Amazing price. The only thing really lacking is the spout; this one pours too easily. Small compromise. For the people who commented about the lignans, it's completely normal for the lignans to collect at the bottom of the bottle. Just poke at 'em with a chopstick.
