Lysine has an antagonistic relationship with L-arginine making it useful in the reduction of arginine levels.*. How does L-lysine support health? Supports immune system function.*. May support a healthy cardiovascular system.*. Supports absorption of calcium from the digestive tract making it more available for biological functions.*. "I've been using these capsules for years for my cats. I open them and mix them with their canned food. However, the recent batches have had capsules that are nearly impossible to open. I can't open them and have to get my husband to pry them open - sometimes with a knife. The lysine still seems effective, but I won't be purchasing these again."
