NSI BioAsteri Borage Oil -- 1,300 mg - 120 Softgels

Rich, natural source of essential fatty acid Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA). Has anti-inflammatory properties and may help maintain healthy skin, joint and cardiovascular function. How does Borage Oil work? Borage oil, also known as starflower oil and borage seed oil, is derived from the seeds of the borage plant (Borago officinalis). It is a rich source of Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), a member of the omega-6 essential fatty acid family. Essential fatty acids are essential because the body needs them for proper formation and function of every cell in the body, but it cannot produce them on its own they must be obtained through diet. Omega-6 essential fatty acid GLA can be obtained through dietary sources such as organ meats or certain seed oils including borage, primrose, black currant and hemp. Borage oil contains the highest percentage of GLA among the seed oils. GLA is a precursor to several prostaglandins, which are hormone-like compounds that play a part in blood vessel health, cholesterol levels, and skin and joint health. Prostaglandins are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and may also have beneficial effects on muscle relaxation, joint lubrication and immune health. NSI® BioAsteri™ Borage Oil contains high levels of omega-6 GLA and is the first borage oil in the world to be GRAS-certified (generally recognized as safe). It contains non-GMO borage oil with 23% GLA per one-softgel serving. NSI Borage Oil is better because it:. Delivers 1,300 mg borage oil per serving. Also provides 480 mg of omega-6 linoleic acid and 195mg of omega-9 oleic acid per serving. Did You Know? All NSI supplements are packaged in HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) bottles. "I read that Borage oil would help alleviate hot flashes. Did the reseach on this product and purchased. Am happy to report that my hot flashes diminished in approximately two weeks time. They are now bearable. This brand is touted as being one of the best, yes it is."

"Be cautious in using this. When I took them for as little as 3 days I broke out in Hives that itched like crazy. I stopped and they disapeared in a day. Regular GLA 300 by Twin Labs was not a problem and I had great results."

"I take this with flax oil to cover my omega fatty acids -- DHA & EPA not withstanding. Not only is this high in GLA, the price allows me to keep borage oil in my diet. With all the benefits GLA provides to the skin, hair and body, I am really glad Vitacost provides this supplement under their brand at such a reasonable price.

"If you do not like fish oil, try this. It works in a similar way for flaxseed but is more readily available to the body. Taking this product helped my HDL a lot."
