Promotes Brain Metabolism. Neuro-Optimizer is nutrition for the brain, combining Cognizin (cytidine 5'-diphoscholine, aslso known as CDP-Choline or Citicoline), Phosphatidylserine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Acetyl L-Carnitine, L-Glutamine and Taurine to enhance brain metabolism and antioxidant protection. Citicoline(CDP-Choline) is a naturally occurring, water-soluble biological compound that is an essential intermediate for the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, a major constituent of the gray matter of brain tissue (30%). Also promotes brain metabolism by enhancing the sythesis of acetylcholine and restoring phospholipid content in the brain. PS (Phosphatidylserine) supports the brain's physiological processing of stress and promotes neuronal communication by its effect on cell membrane fluidity. The antioxidants Acetyl L-Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Taurine provide protection for the neurons from damage caused by certain free radicals. Acetyl 1 - Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid and L-Glutamine also support energy utilization by their effects on fatty acid metabolism, oxidative decarboxylation and gluconeogenesis. Taurine also aids in osmoregulation (maintenance of proper concentrations of ions) inside the cell. "I bought these for family member. They seem to have a possitive effect. They might even be better if I could convince them to take the full dose.. they want them to last (go figure). Any way my findings on this product so far and Jarrow in general are they make vg quality products and that seems to be the concensus. These are a bit pricey."

"It works. I can think more clearly. I noticed that the one big thing that is different, I can make a decision easier and faster. I use less than the normal dose, I am petite and I was hoping to stretch this stuff a little. I use 3 or 4 daily."

"There are no panacea for more intelligence, better memory, or quicker thinking, but Neuro Optimizer certainly takes one in that direction. It is not overnight Hollywood movie wake up being a genius -- just a better me. Quicker memory access, though you will still forget things, just not as much. More quickly, I make connections -- the kind stand-up comedians need to make in order to be funny (a high art) -- or the kind needed to arrive at solutions to problems more easily. We're talking degrees here. I rate Jarrow's product high because, let's be realistic, when was the last time ANYTHING, promising to result in improved nervous system function, actually delivered -- even to some degree? I have found that adding vinpocetine increases Neuro Optimizer's effectiveness -- though that may be placebo effect, my experience says that for me it works."

"I first purchased Jarrow Formulas Neuro Optimizer about 3 months ago. I noticed increased alertness without jitters for an extended period of time - like through my usually fatal early afternoon sugar starved energy void. The very fact I had bought the product for - in fact. By the end of the first bottle, I felt so well I quit taking it. I had lost about 5 pounds no problem because I could not skip the afternoon candy bar. Some couple of months later, I was headed to the corner store for a soda, when I realized I had forgotten about the Optimizer formula and how it had helped me. I have been taking it ever since - about 5 months. I save enough from not buying candy and soda to pay for the product. I have no side effects other than the desirable ones. And I have pretty much lost the blues and have discontinued taking the SAM-E I was taking. I have not tried any other brain metabolizers but an not inclined to do so and this product works for me and is reaonably priced through Vitacost.com. Thank you Jarrow."
