"Tom's Of Maine Spearmint is a wonderful, fluoride-free paste. My 6 year old daughter loves the flavor; I do too. I found it to be mild, yet it cleans mouth and teeth very well. My husband prefers Tom's cinnamon and clove options, as they are even more gentle on the mouth. This is much better than Jason's Powersmile- yuck. I highly recommend Tom's Spearmint!"

"i tried this and it was ok at first, had an ok taste, but as the hours went bad my breath was not fresh anymore and my teeth felt gritty. i kept using, then after a few weeks when i would brush my teeth the taste became worse and made want to gag every time i brushed, and my teeth never felt clean."

"The fluoride in most toothpaste is a dangerous chemical which can damage the health of human beings. Tom's of Maine is one of the few major manufacturers of non-fluoride toothpaste. The spearmint flavor is the best tasting of the several which are offered, some of which, particularly apricot, leave an unpleasant taste in the mouth. The spearmint is so refreshing that I brush with it several times a day. My only complaint is the metal tube in which the product is sold. The tube is unecological, cracks easily and makes it difficult to squeeze out all the toothpaste."

"I've purchased the Tom's of Maine brand of toothpaste before, but local stores stopped carrying the fluoride-free pastes so I turned to the internet. WHOA!, the Spearmint flavor of this is strong - but not in a bad way. I feel like I'm chewing a couple sticks of Wrigley's Spearmint each time I brush my teeth. My teeth seem pretty pleased, too, as this paste whitens even better than the other fluoride-free ToM paste I was using before. I love this toothpaste!"

"My daughter really likes this toothpaste. I first tried giving her Jason Powersmile (which is what my husband and I like), but it was too "minty" for her. It has more of a strong mint flavor. I got this one for her instead and she really likes it. My son, on the other hand, likes the Powersmile.
So, for those of you who like more of a mild minty flavor, go with the Tom's Spearmint - I think you'll like the flavor.
As far as effectiveness, I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars b/c I don't think it has the same whitening ability that the Powersmile does."

"This is a decent toothpaste for an all-natural one. I like Tom's of Maine because you can usually find this in-store no matter where you live. I would have given this a full 5 stars, but the price can be a little much (depending where you buy it). You get a full size tube, which comes in recycled cardboard, and they do not test on animals * a big plus when I buy products*. They include a full ingredients list, which other brands rarely include. I love the taste, just like spearamint from the garden. Its not too overwhelming, and it makes brushing that whole 'recommended' two minutes possible. My husband rarely seems to care what toothpaste I purchase, but this one he actually requests that I buy it again. And I like that each Tom's of Maine product has a little message from Kate & Tom themselves."
