"The formula changed recently and it doesn't work very well. I think Tom's of Maine isn't all that natural of a brand. Propylene Glycol (antifreeze) is the primary ingredient? My arm pits aren't going to freeze, so why put antifreeze on them?
I recently tried the Alvera Unscented and it's a MUCH better and healthier deodorant. I'd give that a try before trying this one. The ingredients are a lot more healthy. I wish I had known about it a few years ago."

"The new formula is a poor substitute for the effective one 5370D that was discontinued. It is misleading because the name is the same. We do not recommend 5572 or 5570 - the current Original and Long-Lasting unscented.
After testing many options, the Desert Essence Dry by Nature Deodorant was the closest to the old Tom's formula. This was personal testing of these options, not in a laboratory."

"I've been using this product for a couple of years, and find that it's a good value & very effective. Some other 'natural' deodorants I've tried are more expensive, & the product more likely to fall off the stick prematurely. The Tom's products have worked well with all-day protection, & the deodorant doesn't crumble or fall off the stick. In my experience- can't speak to your own body chemistry- the product dries quickly & doesn't leave me with damp armpits. There is a faint herbal scent while applying, but once applied, I really don't smell anything."

"Wnating to get away from the toxic aluminum is most deodorants, I tried several natural ones before settling on this one. It's the only one that actaully worked! Even though it can't technically be called an anti-perspirant, this one DOES work that way, at least somewhat. PLUS, once you switch over, after your body adjusts to the lack of toxic chemicals, you stop sweating as much, so you need even less. I've used this everyday for over 6 years now."

"This is my second natural deodorant. Unfortunately the first one I tried stung and left a rash after a few days of use. I really love this stick deodorant and it glides on the skin very nicely and wasn't irritating to my skin at all even after shaving. It kept me fresh even under stressful situations. I also like that it comes in unscented because I've found that hard to find in a natural stick deodorant. The only thing I don't feel comfortable with is it has propylene glycol in it. I ordered a few Lafe's PG free sticks and I hope they are as effective as this one is. This one would be absolutely perfect if they replaced the PG in it with something else"

"Well this product worked ok in the winter months when I didn't sweat but with summer came smell and I can't STAND that! I wouldn't recommend this product if you do have problems with BO when you sweat. I kept my old non-natural doed because of how little this one worked to use when I'll be in public in the summer. I finally found a good one Alvera, that does work. I recommend that one."

"It's likely that, if you don't think it's working, it's just *you*. Read on.
The thing with this deodorant is that, like advertised, it's unscented. Unscented really means unscented in this case! Though I had no onion armpit smell, thankfully, I still had a smell which I could not identify as that of the deodorant, which really threw me. I eventually had my girlfriend verify that I did not smell bad (like onions) on the deodorant, which settled me. I have concluded that I just smell "normal".
This product works quite well, especially without the harmful aluminum. I apply it once a day, without fail, which is more often than I would have to with other aluminum-containing deodorants, but I don't mind. It's quite worth it in the end. Give it a try!"

"I bought Tom's of Maine original unscented deodorant for years-the stick and the roll-on. It seemed to work and had a light pleasant scent, reminded me of aloe. However, the new formula smells lemony, and does not work very well for me. I am used to reapplying natural deodorants, since there is no antiperspirant, but only a short time after applying this one, I smell like "lemon sweat". The Tom's of Maine calendula (my husband uses) still seems to work pretty well, but has a more masculine smell."
