Better than canned...
July 15, 2015
"I find many canned enchilada sauces to have a slight metallic, bitter aftertaste. I liked this sauce a lot--it's not bitter and has a rich, complex flavor, and it's so quick and convenient to use. I used mine for enchiladas as well as huevos rancheros. However, the only drawbacks I could see for others is that the sauce is a little saltier than expected. It also has a slight spicy kick--you don't notice it right away, it's more of a slow burn. So for those watching their sodium intake and kids (or adults) who might be sensitive to spicy food, you could possibly cut the sauce with plain tomato sauce. Otherwise, a pretty great product!"

Excellent and versatile sauce
November 2, 2014
"I've been using Rick Bayliss's Frontera sauces and marinades for a while now and can't recommend them highly enough.
The red enchilada sauce is indeed excellent in enchiladas, but it also makes a good base (with broth) for a pot of red posole. I also throw it into braises (chicken, pork, beef) for that little extra dimension the peppers in this sauce give the dish.
I like that there are no preservatives in Frontera products, which is why I gave them a try the first time I saw them. Just an excellent line of products."
